History & Origin
Keoska is the daughter of Cain — the first vampire, the first murderer, the first exile — and an angel whose name has been lost to every record that has ever tried to hold it. She was born in 1219 BC into a world that had no category for what she was. She spent several centuries finding out.
The combination of her bloodlines produced something that is neither fully vampire nor fully divine — something older-feeling than either, with the hunger of one inheritance and the endurance of the other. She has not fed in the conventional sense in a very long time. What she requires instead, she has never fully disclosed.
Keoska founded Evermore Crown College as a haven for descendants of fairy tale, folklore, and mythological bloodlines — students whose power and heritage left them without anywhere to develop either properly. She did not build the school to be remembered for it. She built it because the gap existed and she was the only one old enough to have the resources and patience to fill it.
She is the sole authority at ECC. There is no dean, no co-founder, no board that outranks her. The institutional structure was built by her, around her, and reflects decisions she made alone across centuries of iteration.
"I built a college to give descendants of legends somewhere to belong. I built The Fourth because belonging is not enough. Some of them were always going to be more than students. I simply introduce them to what they already are — a little earlier than they would have found it on their own."Keoska — Recorded once. Source unverified.
Known Powers
From Cain's bloodline: the original vampiric capabilities, older and deeper than any descended strain in the current world. Students who study vampire lineages note that Keoska predates the branching — she is not a descendant of the tradition. She is, in a meaningful sense, the source of it.
From her unnamed mother: endurance, presence, and something that operates in the space between perception and certainty. Students in her private audiences frequently report feeling assessed at a level that has nothing to do with their answers. Faculty have described the sensation of her full attention as physically warm and impossible to sustain eye contact through.
An ancient object carried since 1219 BC. Its origin is unknown. Keoska places it on the desk during every private student audience. The Relic reacts to each student — the reaction determines rank. She writes nothing down. She remembers everything. What the Relic does when it encounters someone she has already decided on is not documented anywhere.
The Ember Guard
The Ember Guard is Keoska's protective order — founded centuries before ECC, still active, still recruiting. Within ECC it operates as the Fourth Track: a secret pipeline layered over the existing three, selecting students whose qualities Keoska has identified as suitable. No student who has been selected has ever spoken about it. No student who has not been selected knows the selection criteria with certainty.
The Fourth Track appears in official ECC documentation only as "Track IV" with no name, no description, and no contact information. Students receive a second sealed letter with only a time and a location. That is all.
